You see, I'm a leader in a local church too. I am the pastor at Mawson Lakes Community Church.

Like all churches, we have our ups and our downs, our strengths and our weaknesses.

However, our church is growing, with amazing people, and has an amazing future ahead of it.

Most churches I know in Australia are not growing - they are staying the same size, or shrinking. Leaders are burning out. Funds are drying up. And no one seems to know the answer.

I've been there - as have my colleagues.

But we've discovered something - well, a lot of things.

We've discovered that we can do ministry better - we can do ministry in a way that is both sacrificial and life-giving, for ourselves, our families, and the people we serve. We can grow ministries, without working 50, 60, 70 or 80 hours a week.

And it is all revealed in the pages of scripture.

Jesus is the greatest leader our planet has ever seen. His teaching is throughout all 66 books, and while scripture first and foremost shows and reveals Jesus to us, it has a lot of wisdom for us in other areas - especially in the area of Servant Leadership.
